Thank you for visiting our classroom website! Ms. Curtis and I are so thrilled to have your child in our class. We look forward to sharing our excitement for learning with you and your child this year!

I graduated from Western Carolina University in 2010 with a BA in Elementary Education. This is my sixth year as a kindergarten teacher at Fairview Elementary and I feel so lucky to be a part of this wonderful school! GO CARDINALS!!!

Ms. Curtis received a BA at the University of Florida and received another BA at the University of Central Florida.  She has been working at Fairview Elementary for the past eighteen years! This year marks her ninth year in a kindergarten classroom.

What professional training and educational background have you had?

I graduated from Western Carolina University in 2010 with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. As an educator I have received a wide variety of professional development. This professional development includes:
  • Math Investigations Curriculum Training
  • Leveled Literacy Intervention Training- a program that provides reading assessments and interventions to students.
  • Thinking Maps Training for Literacy
  • Kathy Richardson (APLUS) Training- a program that provides math assessments and interventions to students.
  • World View Conference Training- strategies and ideas to help the students in my classroom become global citizens.
  • P.B.I.S. Training (Positive Behavior Supports and Interventions) on implementing the program in our school.

What makes Fairview such a special place to teach?

Fairview Elementary has such a positive atmosphere and sense of community! The teachers at this school are energetic and always put the students first in everything that they do. I feel extremely proud to teach at this school.

What do you like most about  teaching at Fairview ?

My favorite thing about teaching at Fairview is collaborating with fellow teachers, administrators and parents for the benefit of my students. It is such a wonderful thing to know that you have so much support from everyone in the school and at home!

How would you describe your classroom?

I would definitely say that my classroom is energetic, inviting, safe, and full of love and laughter! The students in my classroom develop a strong sense of community and feel safe to ask questions, make mistakes and challenge themselves! You could find us acting out our favorite stories, singing songs, doing science experiments, creating beautiful pieces of art, making observations and exploring interesting subjects!
