FES Registration

Step 1.) Please complete Online Registration

Step 3.) Once you have completed the online registration, please scan or take a photo the following documents and email them to michelle.haney@bcsemail.org.

  • Photo ID of parent/legal guardian (Driver's License)
  • Proof of Guardianship  – This can include the birth certificate, divorce papers, social services paperwork, or paperwork signed by a judge awarding custody.  Custody paperwork authorized by a judge or Social Services/foster care placement paperwork is required for all children not living with their natural parent.
  • *Two proofs of residency in the Fairview school district are required and must be in the name of the parent/legal guardian. (Students cannot enroll without this.)
  1. One must be a current utility bill (Electric bill, Gas bill or Water bill)Television, internet, and phone bills are not accepted.
    AND
  2. One must be a current document regarding the ownership of the home, such as: Mortgage statement, Rental/lease agreement, Deed, Buyer’s agreement with a closing date listed (after closing the parent/guardian may be required to provide a mortgage/lease statement), Homeowner’s/renter’s insurance policy. *If the parent/legal guardian is not the homeowner, a Residency Statement (provided by the school) must be completed by the parent/legal guardian AND the homeowner. The homeowner will present required residency proof to school officials.
  • Certified Birth Certificate (the hospital or mother’s copy is NOT acceptable)
  • Immunization Record – if your child is not immunized you will need to speak with our school nurse
  • NC Health Assessment- top portion completed by parent; bottom and back completed by Health Care Provider

FAQ - for Prospective FES families

 

·         What time does the day start and end?

o   The official school day starts at 7:55, but students can arrive at school as early as 7:15 for supervision in the cafeteria. They cannot go to their classrooms until the 7:30 bell rings.

o   The school day officially ends at 2:25. Car rider line starts around 2:30.

 

·         How many kids attend Fairview?

o   On an average year, between 700-740. We have Kindergarten through 5th grade students.

 

·         What does a daily schedule look like?

o   The school day is 6.5 hours long. The way the time is spent is different for each grade level, but this is a general example: Students have 90 minutes of math, 90 minutes of ELA (reading/writing), 30-45 minutes of Essential Standards. 40-50 minutes of special classes, 30 minutes for recess, 25 minutes for lunch, and 15 minutes of social-emotional learning.

 

·         How many special classes do they attend?

o   Students attend P.E., Art, Music, one extra class of Art, Music, or P.E., and either Media or Friends &

 

·         How often do students go outside?

o   Students go outside for recess every day except for their scheduled P.E. day. If it is raining or below freezing, they have indoor recess.

 

·         How big are the class sizes?

o   The legislature decides class sizes for public schools. Our Kindergarten classes had an average of 18 per class this year, but the max is 23. Kindergarten and 1st grade both have full-time assistants with them for nearly the entire school day. In 2nd and 3rd grade

 

·         What kind of clubs and activities do you have at FES?

o   Yes! If you look under the “Clubs” tab, you can find information about each of them.

 

·         Is there a school garden?

o   Yes, we do have a school garden! Parent volunteers keep it well attended, so if you have a green thumb, this could be a good place for you to volunteer.

 

·         Can parents volunteer in the classroom?

o   Yes, usually! Every year before Covid, parents could volunteer in the classroom. We will see the new BCS guidance on this in the 2021-22 school year.

 

·         What about lunch?

o   Many students eat school lunch and some bring lunch from home. The menu and prices can be found
