Weekly Updates

Good evening Fairview families,

Thank you so much for your participation in our Storybook Character Dress Up Days last week!  We loved seeing all the characters in our building and on Zoom!  We are pleased to announce that we raised $1,564.00 for the FES Media Center!  We plan to use these funds to purchase new books to rebuild our collection.

Please be reminded that “A” day students will have a picture make up day tomorrow, Monday, March 1st.  This picture day is for any “A” day student who was absent on the original picture day or any full remote student who has now changed to in person learning and attends on “A” days.  This day is also for any “A” day students who need to have a picture retaken.  These pictures will be used in the Fairview Elementary 2020-2021 school yearbook and we want all students included.

Calling all rising kindergarten students!  Fairview Elementary will be holding virtual kindergarten tours for families of rising kindergarteners this coming week on Tuesday, March 2nd.  Virtual tours will be offered at 10:00 am and 3:00 pm.  If you have a rising kindergarten student or know someone with a rising kindergarten student, please share this information.  These are the same tours that were offered in January, so if you attended then there is no need to attend again.  Please call the school at 628-2732 to sign up for a tour and receive the Zoom link.

Families, thank you so much for your support in keeping our students, staff, and school safe!  Thank you for keeping your student home when they are not feeling well and for communicating with your child’s teacher.  Please continue to monitor your child’s symptoms and contact your child’s teacher if they have any symptoms of Covid, been exposed to Covid, or asked to quarantine.  Keep following those 3 W’s (wash your hands, wear a mask, stay at least 6 ft apart).  It takes all of us working together to keep our Fairview family healthy and safe!

As you probably already heard, the Buncombe County School Board voted last Thursday afternoon in a special called session to move elementary students back to school five days a week under Plan A.

K-3 students will return 5 days a week beginning on Monday, March 8th.

4th-5th grade students will return 5 days a week beginning on Monday, March 15th.

Please be reminded that this decision does not impact our full remote students.  If you chose remote learning for your student, he or she will remain full remote for the remainder of the school year.  Per the Governor’s directive, only K-5 students may return to school in person 5 days a week.  Students in grades 6-12 will remain in Plan B per the Governor’s directive.  We will send reminders and updates about school procedures and logistics including information about the car rider line, buses, and more next week.

As always, thanks for supporting Fairview Elementary School!  Have a great week ahead!
