News & Notes

Mrs. James 2021-2022
I am so excited to have your child in 2nd grade this year. I have 26 years of experience in grades K, 2, 3, and 4 and I’m anxious to begin this journey with your child!
Please read over the following information. Hopefully, this will answer many questions you may have. Also, never hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have throughout the year.

If your child is absent, please send in a note, email, or doctor's note stating the reason for the absence. The absence will be unexcused until a note/email is received.
If your child becomes ill at school, I will try to contact you in the following order: home, cell, work, emergency number (unless you request differently).

Our school is continuing to support a discipline program known as PBIS (Positive Behaviors Interventions and Support). Your child will receive praise and Dojo points for positive behavior and making good decisions. They will be able to redeem their points for funl prizes and rewards on a weekly basis throughout the school year! Much more information will be sent home regarding this program and should answer any questions you may have. Please be sure to look over the PBIS rubric that is included in your child’s brown envelope from Meet the Teacher Day.

I am very careful about getting your child home through the correct transportation. If your child needs to change the way they are going home, I MUST have a written note or I will feel more secure in sending them home their usual way. This is a school policy that is strictly enforced for the safety and protection of your child.

Occasionally, we will need additional supplies. I will communicate this through notes in the daily folders and newsletters. You child’s homework folder needs to be returned every day. This is my way of communicating with you on a daily basis.

I hope this information has been useful and helped to answer some questions you may have. Please rest assured that I will do everything I can to make sure your child enjoys their day, learns something new everyday, and most importantly, feels loved everyday.
