This past spring, Hominy Valley Elementary School turned the page on an unforgettable Literacy Day filled with fun, creativity, and a love for reading. Students spent the day celebrating literacy through a variety of engaging activities designed to inspire young readers and make learning come alive.

One of the day’s biggest highlights was reading new books that gave students fresh new stories to explore both in the classroom and at home. Hallways were also filled with creativity as students and staff dressed up as vocabulary words, bringing language to life in a fun and imaginative way while challenging classmates to guess the words they represented.
The celebration continued with lively games of Literacy Bingo, interactive reading activities, and hands-on learning experiences that kept students engaged from start to finish. Every activity reinforced the importance of reading while showing students that literacy can be both educational and exciting.

Literacy Day was a wonderful reminder that reading opens doors to imagination, knowledge, and endless possibilities. Through books, games, and creative expression, Hominy Valley Elementary fostered a school-wide celebration that encouraged students to build a lifelong love of learning - one page at a time.
