The Gifted Program at Fairview Elementary
The Gifted Program at Fairview Elementary serves students who demonstrate a need for academic enrichment and differentiated curriculum. Formal identification begins in 4th grade. Buncombe County uses multiple criteria to determine the degree of need for differentiation. The criteria include: aptitude (intelligence) testing, achievement testing, teacher observation of typical gifted characteristics, teacher documentation of the need for differentiation, student motivation, student grades, and work samples. Use the BCS AIG homepage link below to find more specific information about the referral and screening process as well as AIG goals.
