Fairview Flyers Unicycle Team

Fairview Flyers Unicycle Team History

The Fairview Flyers Unicycle Team was started over 10 years ago by Bob Gregg, Fairview Elementary's Physical Education (PE) teacher. The team is now coached by Greg Cheatham, our current PE teacher. The goal of the program is to build responsibility and teamwork, as well as boost the team member's confidence through a rigorous and demanding sport. The team performs throughout the south at high school, college and professional basketball half-time shows, as well as parades. The team has also performed twice at Epcot in Walt Disney World.

The team consists of 4th and 5th graders. They practice before school four days a week and every Wednesday afternoon for an hour and a half. These kids and their families are very dedicated to this extremely unusual, extra-curricular activity.

In March, 3rd & 4th graders may fill out an application for consideration to be a Fairview Flyer. Anyone interested must maintain at least a C average on all report cards. Good grades, attendance record and leadership abilities are all requirements that the unicycle team application committee evaluates. The new team begins practicing daily in April.
